PC Troubleshooter Problem Report
Did you read the Troubleshooter
Checklist, first?
Other annoying nags, rants, and rules:
- I do not try to solve problems arising from:
- pirated software,
- illegally copied software or music,
- beta test software
- All submissions and the answers provided become the property of Myles
White and may be used in whole or in part in various columns in a variety
of publications without payment.
- I will probably use your name and city of origin,
but will not publish your e-mail address, sell it to anyone else, or send
you any advertising myself.
- I may be able to tell you where and
when your problem and the report on it will be published, but sometimes I
get very busy and I may forget. Also, regardless of when I
file material and think it will appear, it's up to the editors to decide when it is
to run and their decisions are beyond my control.
- I do answer all reports submitted, whether they're for later publication
or not.
- However, copyright
applies to all answers given.
- That means you can share what I've told
you with your uncle or cousin or real close friend, but you may not
publish it in any medium for any reason. You can't post it at your Web
site, include it in your magazine or e-zine, or make copies for your
class unless you ask me
for written permission first and negotiate a fee.
- Sometimes, despite my best efforts, the answer is, "Sorry, but
I don't know."
- I usually answer one or two reasonable questions for consumers for free.
However, if you're asking on behalf of a business or enterprise, or what
you want goes far beyond the bounds of "reasonable," please be
aware that my consulting fee is $150 per hour, with a four-hour minimum.
paid in advance as a retainer (but I'll let you know when you're crossing
the line before any costs are incurred – there are no hidden bills
here).
- And last, but not least (according to my lawyer): I make every effort to
accurately assess the nature of your problem and suggest as safe a
solution as I can. If I err, it is usually on the side of caution.
However, it's very difficult to diagnose problems at arm's length. If you
do follow my suggestion(s) and something goes horribly wrong, you have my
sympathy, but the advice is given without warranty and I accept no
responsibility for the results.
